| Had a good time at Le Moulin, very relaxing. Thanks Jason & Marie-Laure for an excellent Saturday night watching the rugby (France - England, sorry !). | A wonderful relaxing week in this lovely mill. A credit to Jason & family. Wonderful weaher, very much enjoyed our stay here. | |
| Ken, Anne, Sam & Alex Ridgeway - Alberta, Canada | Rachel, Tim, Louis and Joseph - Holmer Green, Bucks | |
| What a lovely place ! As I sit writing this on the terrace I wish we didn't have to leave today. We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay ! | There is something about staying in the Mill that makes you instantly want to go and buy a property in rural France and adopt the French way of life, complete with eccentric opening hours ! The children proclaimed it heaven, their shrill screams of excitemet terrifuing local wildlife, although they will claim otherwise? Apologies to the cats, kittens, frogs and owners for any lasting afflictions. | |
| Chris, Rachel, Olivia & Nina - originally of Macclesfield, now of Paizay-le-Tort |

| It's been a fantastic time house hunting - can't believe that we were so lucky to have such a wonderful place to do it from! Superb accommodation with everything that is needed. A massive thanks to all the Satterthwaites for their help & support over the last few months. Wishing all future visitors fantastic holidays in this beautiful gîte. | ||

| Yes, this really is the 5th succesive year that we've been to the Moulin for our Summer holidays and there is very little we can add over what we have said previously. It was a great pleasure to meet Jason, Marie-Laure and family again and the Mill itself was up to its usual extremely high standards. With any luck we'll be back again next year. Thanks for a terrific holiday and for making us so welcome once again. | Wonderful location, excellent facilities. Peaceful, tranquil with plenty to do. A perfect place to discover rural France & chill out! Jason & family very friendly & always there to help out yet completely unobtrusive. Have been to France many times & this holiday rates as one of the very best. | |

| All packed up and ready to go, but sorry to be leaving. We've all had a brilliant time here. The house, surroundings, everything excellent. The kids loved the pool and the wildlife which was "cool" and "wicked" (quote from Issac, 9). We had a lovely day in Cognac, and in La Rochelle. Couldn't fit in everything we wanted, loads to do around here. Worth visiting the local lakes for swimming, fishing etc. Jason & Marie-Laure were very welcoming & helpful (sorry for the late arrival!). Would like to return one day. | Our first time in France (apart fom Paris) - what a beautiful place to visit. We have been sight-seeing all around the area & particularly loved the Ile de Ré. Weather has been perfect and we've taken advantage of the pool & the shade. We've eaten well and the local restaurant was good value when we didn't feel like driving anywhere. Main problem, too many "u"s in the Scabble set!!! Otherwise will highly recommend the Moulin de la Combe & don't be suprised if we turn up here again ! | |
| Deborah & Samuel Banert - Diessenhofer, Switzerland | Margaret Gibson. Rebecca, Derek, Jo Brown - Shropshire | |
| Many thanks for the wonderful time we've spent in your lovely water mill. We're going home very relaxed and will look back often to your lovely place. | What a wonderful time we have had. So restful, beautiful, interesting & serene. this is a lovely area and we must return to enjoy the experiences we missed - BECAUSE - the Mill is just a lovely place to be. Thank-you. | |
| Reg & Angela Lewis & Katherine Finlayson - Caithnes, Scotland | Nick, Jackie, Rebecca & Harry - New Forest, Hampshire | |
| Having just left Niort on our long journey from John O'Groats the car died. Thanks to Jason's organisational skills, kindness and his fluency in both English and French, this initial 'blip' to our holiday was soon sorted and gave us the opportunity to explore the surroundings. How beautiful and well maintained they are. Watch for the Hoopoe birds (pinkish pigeon sized with black & white wing bars), golden oriole, loires (chipmunk like creatures that scuttle into the night) and the red squirrels. We had a wonderfully restful, interesting and rejuvenating time in a home that was a delight... thank-you Jason & family for their discreet but warm hospitality and for keeping the Moulin alive. | Great weather - lovely relaxing family holiday. Setting couldn't be better. We'll be back next year ! | |

| We arrived at the Mill late in the evening and the Satterthwaites were very charming and helpful. The mill itself is wonderful, particularly for a family with young children. Our kids have played non stop in the amazing grounds and been in and out of the streams. The weather has been amazing for this time of the year and the highlight of the trip has to be Isle de Ré and the "St Tropez" like port of St Martin, it's only 1.5 hrs and is truly wonderful. As previously written many times Jason's cooking is brilliant and there are so many attractions locally it is difficult to quote them all; see La Rochelle, the silver mines and Poitiers is a very nice city. Most of all enjoyed the watermill it's enchanting grounds and great owners. We will return as soon as possible. | I thought that the weather was great most days.
We went to the Zoo at Chize, it was good, my sister (8 years old) loved
it.Some of the other days we went to La Rochelle & the market in Melle.
I would recommend a shop called Deini La. It's an Indian shop. Liberty Age 11 We had a particularly good day out at La Rochelle-just mooching and soaking up the French atmosphere. It was Easter Monday so lots of people around and the sun came out. The watermill itself is gorgeous and we all enjoyed the wildlife, cats were very friendly (we loved Ula) and the frogs Ellie found and caught were fun. We hope we will return. Thank you. |

The watermill accommodation ,gardens and location are absolutely
FIRST CLASS! The weather on the whole has been good with some fantastic
thunder storms. The Pool has been equally fantastic with the water temperature
reaching a whopping 34°C. Food - DELICIOUS The area has been perfect, with
the sea and golden beaches within an hours drive and far too much for the
kids to do in our 2 week stay, which have included:Futuroscope,Monkey Valley
& Puy De Fou. Our only regret has been booking a week in Normandy which
luckily was the week before we arrived at "Le Moulin De La Combe"
as it's a very hard act to follow. Many thanks from us all for one of the best Holidays we have ever had!!! Rod & Family PS:What's availability like for a 3 week slot in June 2006 ? |

| The Moulin is an outstanding place to stay, an excellent place for a holiday & all of us can say the best sleep we have ever had! - We would recommend it to anyone!!! | Like many others we have spent a "very" busy week house hunting. The "Moulin" has been a wonderful base for us,clean and lovingly restored. We have been made to feel very welcome by you and your family and the little furry visitors (Cats). | |
| Julie, Gary, Becky & Alex - Bedford (GB) | Barbara & Malcolm - Surrey (GB) | |
| We have really enjoyed staying in this beautiful
home in a wonderful location. You were great hosts and all the home comforts
were much appreciated. We enjoyed visiting "The Moulin de la Combe", the house is really nice, and the swimming pool, dart board, bikes & ping pong table were continuously used. We taught Granddad how to swim!! We really enjoyed playing with Choé & Liam. We visited the Monkey Valley which was Fab! We enjoyed everything about the mill it was great. Thanks for a great holiday!!!! Love Becky (11) & Alex (10) |
We were impressed with the Moulin from the web site and knew that it would be "somewhere special". Full marks to our hosts Jason & Marie-Laure. The little touches like the wine, flowers & fruit made us feel really welcome. If 'Carlsberg' rented gites this would probably be the 'BEST'. A labour of love for Marie-Laure & Jason you deserve the best for what you have achieved. The pool excellent after a hard days sight-seeing, 30°C+ most days. Tumulus de Bougon well worth a visit if only to stand in something so old. MOULIN TO BE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
| Wendy,Derek,Alastair,Heather,Aaron & Findley-North Yorkshire (GB) | Paul & Sue - West Sussex (GB) | |
| What a lovely place for a relaxing holiday. Our Grandson enjoyed exploring the grounds and fishing in the streams. He thought the pool was fantastic. Loads of places to visit when you can be bothered to leave the lovely Mill. Definately a place to recommend to others. Thanks for a lovely fortnight. | Thank you so much for a relaxing stay. The Moulin
de la Combe has been lovingly and carefully restored & the attention
to detail makes a nice change. We have already recommended you to others
and will continue to do so. Good luck for the future and once again Thank you! |

| Andrew, Nicola, Sidney, Simon, Nicola & Amy - Milton Keynes (GB) | Elaine, Derek, Sarah & David - Southampton (GB) | |
| 'Great Place'. Lots to do, some amazing thunder
storms (5 in total). Valley des Singes (monkey Zoo) worth a visit. Great
river past Ruffec for paddling, watersports, fishing, and also the plan
d'eau at Lambon & Ville Fagnan for those really hot days. Also recommend
a visit to Cognac for the Remy-Martin tour - includes a train ride which
keeps the children happy! Lezay market is good but you have to get there
early for the cattle and larger animals. Melle market is good for seafood.
We recommend 'Les Glycines' in Melle for a good restaurant, lovely food
and service and child friendly. Thanks for a great holiday! |
Our third visit and this time for three weeks and yet again a marvellous time had by all. Whilst not matching the heat wave of last year we have only had 2 days of rain and have spent most of our time here around the pool. Jason, Marie-Laure, Choé & Liam have as ever been wonderful hosts and we have really enjoyed seeing them all again and to be commend for the changes made in the last 12 months with the addition of a new dishwasher, oven and change of furnishings in the millroom-All much appreciated! All that remains is to say "Au Revoir" to the "Moulin de la Combe" yet again with the hope that we may be able to come back again next year.
| Geoff, Fiona, Peter & James - Berkshire (GB) | Julian, Amanda, Josh & Summer - Bradford (GB) | |
| Thank you for your hospitality + tasty meals
and for providing a relaxing environment (with plenty of activities) in
charming surroundings. We have all loved our holiday here. HIGHLIGHTS OUTSIDE THE MILL : Le Chateau des Aigles at Chauvigny. Eagle and birds of prey shows are timed and times vary throughout the year, so check before you go. Chauvigny is worth walking around, particularly the medieval part near the chateau. Le Puy De Fou.Medieval theme park kids particularly loved this-need a whole day. Zoo at Chize.Less than 30 minutes away and we all enjoyed it. Aquarium at La Rochelle.Excellent aquarium but very crowded when we went. Melle Silver Mines.Adults enjoyed it.Children were disinterested due to 45 min presentation + film in French before mine visit (English summary booklet is given). Kids enjoyed mines themselves. |
Our first visit and we are soon to be leaving
- reluctantly - need we say more! A very relaxing & beautiful environment that we would like to repeat and would recommend to everyone & anyone! Thank you and good luck for the future! |

| When I first saw the pictures of "Le Moulin De La Combe" on the website, I said to my husband, "I don't care where it is, that is where I would like to stay". On arrival we realised that as beautiful as the photos are, they do not do justice to just how lovely the Moulin and it's grounds actually are. Jason & Marie-Laure have done an absolutely incredible job. The workmanship and restoration of the Moulin are superb. Much as I hate to beat a dead horse, idyllic and relaxing best describe our 2 weeks here. Definantly a "home from home" everything we could possibly need (and more) was supplied. The local markets are excellent along with the local boulanger in Melle. We had wonderful meals in La Rochelle, St Martin on the Isle de Ré. Cognac and the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice, hundreds of km's of little canals) are worth a visit and Poitiers is a pleasant, bustling university town. We would definitely recommend the "Moulin de la Combe" to anyone planning to visit the area. The table tennis net is now regulation height! The green direction signs were invaluable in simplifying the last few km's of our journey which we often find is the most difficult part of our trip. The fleches part of the arrows for the dart board could be a little longer for those of us who's eyesight is not what it was. All in all a wonderful vacation in beautiful surroundings with terrific hosts. Un grand merci a la famille Satterthwaite. | What a Gem!! Thank you for looking after us so well we felt at home. |

| What a fantastic week.Weather has been kind for
this time of year (late October). Have been body boarding in Royan and Ile
de Ré. It has been great to stay in a property that retains all it's
original features and that is also so comfortable and well equipped. Thank-you
to all and we look forward to returning soon. It has been interesting to
compare a French Watermill to our Cornish Mill (www.boscastleoldmill.com
if anybody is interested). Many thanks for a wonderful 'last supper' a meal
to be savoured! We reluctantly return home tomorrow. With best wishes for
the future. |
It is my first night here and over a glass of wine I have sat and read
this book and cannot find any bad comments. I am here for a week my brother
and his wife and my farther-having abandoned my husband and 3 boys aged
11,8 & 6 to do some serious male bonding-and I am to do some serious
relaxing. I will complete my entry at the end of my stay and we will see
if everyone before me was right or are they all big liars? |

| "Parfait! Our second visit to the Moulin de la combe and the magic is still here! We started to unwind the minute we came through the gates. Many thanks to Jason, Marie-Laure and not forgetting Choé & Liam for their kindness, hospitality and thoughtfulness and allowing us to share in their beautiful home and gardens. With all good wishes and kind regards. We'll be back !" (September 2003) | "After visiting France for many years this has to be the best place we have ever stayed, not just the mill and the outstanding work done by Jason but the region also. We have been impressed by everything and can't wait to return. We loved all the cats Mouse, Roxy & Pikachou, the excellent facilities, beautiful mill and gardens - 2 weeks next time I promise !" (August 2003) | |
| Robert,Helen,Oliver & Alistair - Hampshire (GB) | Elaine,Derek,Helen & David - Southampton (GB) | |
| "We have had a wonderful time at the Moulin de la combe. The facilities were great and the children were very happy and as you know happy children mean happy parents! Thanks for your advice Jason to visit the 'Puy du Fou' we had a fantastic day! The Mill & surroundings are beautiful and we have had much pleasure relaxing and taking it all in. Now it is time for us to leave taking with us wonderful memories. P.S We fell in love with Mouse, can we take him home with us?" (August 2003) | "Our second visit to 'Le Moulin De La Combe'and even better than the first. With two weeks rather than the one we had year, we have had time not only to visit more of the local 'attractions' but also make the most of the new pool with temperatures soaring over the 100°F this last week. Our local visits included Futuroscope, La Rochelle (a number of excellent restaurants there) and a full day of Cognac visiting both Remy-Martin & Martell (2 very good and contracting tours). We have also visited the 'Valley des Singes' twice thoroughly recommended but try and go when it's not too hot as the monkeys don't enjoy the really hot weather either. Finally we must thank our host's and hope to be back again next year for our third visit." (July 2003) | |
| Douglas,Carol & Andrew - Scotland (GB) | Stephen,Stephanie,Blaine,Gillian & Anthony - Scotland (GB) | |
| "Another wonderful stay - Three weeks of
great weather made it even better. Visited another vineyard at St Emilion
(only 90mins away) another Cognac makers, the zoo at Royan, Eagles display
at Chavigny, there were different attractions at Futuroscope, Sunbathed
on the Ile De Ré as well as many more activities. Everyone enjoyed
the larger pool and being entertained by Mouse. Many thanks to Jason, Marie-Laure,
Choé & Liam. We came here with Carol, Dougie and Andrew and with 60 years of going on Holiday we can't recall a more peaceful relaxing and beautiful location. Jason, Marie-Laure and their children treated us more like friends than the 'customers' that we were. There is no more to be said that hasn't been written in this book already. Thanks for the memories. Beatrice & Jim-Scotland" (July 2003) |
"The last night of a quite wonderful fortnight. The first week drenched in excellent sunshine with temperatures soaring to a whopping 32° and as much time as possible spent soaking up the peaceful atmosphere of 'Le Moulin De La Combe' and it's beautiful gardens. To all who follow, we hope that you get as much enjoyment from le Moulin de la Combe as we have and hopefully we will be back to sample it's pleasures again. P.S To Douglas who follows us on his second visit and recommended 'Le Moulin De La Combe' to us it seems you do have some good taste after all!" (June 2003)

| "After a long journey we were relieved to find such a beautifully kept home to stay in.We have had great weather-a couple of storms and a bit of rain but mostly blue skies & sunshine. A few places we have visited:- Chateau Jarvarzey-Closed until 16/06/03 but has an excellent lake where you can fish and a well kept park with river running by. Cognac-Worth the drive, very pretty town. Aulney-Nice church. La Mothe St-Heray- In search of the Chateau shown on our map-although looks like it has been bought by someone with loads of money. We took a drive down a few lanes and found a lovely spot by the river suitable for paddling and fish spotting. Melle-Excellent local shops-butchers+Bakers+Newsagents.The market was fantastic for local sea food-giant prawns+paella.........dodgy clothes for sale also! La Rochelle-Great for people & boat watching, good chips & mussels-shops closed on a Sunday(just as well,I'd have spent a fortune). Ile De Ré-Lovely Island-Fantastic lunch in St-Martin. Ile De Aix-Accessed by boat from Fouras (20min) superb beaches and very well looked after. Coulon-We hired a canoe for 2 hours & travelled along the canals-My map reading skills are worse on water than on land. St-Jean D'Angely-Worth going to-took a walk along the river(nearly as nice as the Thames) We didn't eat out much in the evenings, although the Hotel in Melle (Les Glycines) was fantastic for an evening meal-a little bit pricey to some-but worth it. Cote De Boeuf-Good steaks-not as fantastic as everyone else's.......... Supermarkets-Champion-Ok for essentials,Super U also ok.The best one (in our opinion) is Intermarche. Thanks to the satterthwaite family for restoring the mill so well and for maintaining it to such a high standard,we have had a great holiday and couldn't have asked for more." (May 2003) | "We couldn't have asked for more! Such a restful week in wonderful surroundings-and the sun as well. We have benefited from all the hard work that has gone into making this a very special place for a holiday." (May 2003) | |
| Alan, Jenny & boys - Shropshire (GB) | Tracy, Richard, Jackie, John & Boys - Essex (GB) | |
| "Thanks for a good time. Mill was perfect for our family. Boys really enjoyed themselves, plus all the videos, books & games that are carefully provided were a great success. Good luck for the Future." (April 2003) | "We've had a lovely stay, the mill is a real treat. La Rochelle beach in February was quite warm with the most fantastic port, we'd never seen so many boats in one place before. Dad spotted two Coypu driving out of the Village but the rest of us didn't quite believe him. Thanks for a lovely stay." (Feb 2003) | |

| "Many thanks for an excellent stay ! Your food and hospitality has made our visit to France one to remember for a long time. The alterations are a credit to you & that's from someone who knows a bit about building. Food ! ... Well what can we say ... Excellent ! Peter & myself wish you and your wife all the best for 2003. Good Luck ! " (14/11/02) | "Thank-you for creating such a peaceful, relaxing environment to spend the week in. Weather has not been on our side but we have had a great taste for the place & hope to return next summer. So much to see and visit in this lovely region but most of all we look forward to spending more time in the beautiful grounds of Le Moulin next June." (25/10/02) | |
| Anne-Marie, Graham, Scott & Alan - Scotland (Ecosse) | Noel & Ruth - Bangor, Northern Ireland (GB) | |
| "Wonderful home and a beautiful setting for a relaxing holiday. Freedom for the children with no worries about their safety, something not often found elsewhere. The local tourist offices could not have been more helpful and always took time to answer any queries. NOT TO BE MISSED: Tumulus de Bougon & museum, Celles-sur-Belle Abbey & grounds, Mines d'argent at Melle excellent guided tour. Further afield but well worth the drive La Rochelle, Rochefort, Cognac, Poitiers all with many attractions. All made this a great holiday." (18/10/02) | "What an idyllic place! It's obviously a house where much inspiration, hard work and love have created an oasis of peace and tranquillity. We have had a wonderful week, blessed by perfect weather. The surrounding area offers so much to see and do, that one week is only enough to scrape the surface. Of the places we had time to visit we loved La Rochelle, Ile De Re (St Martin & La Flotte), Melle & Celles-sur-Belle. Many thanks for sharing your wonderful home and best wishes for the future." (28/09/02) | |

"What a splendid Gaff!! It was a very welcome surprise after a hot & tiring journey. It wasn't long before we felt that we had been here for ages. It's very easy to slip into such a relaxing pace of life. The standard of accommodation and all the amenities on site help to make this an ideal venue for a family holiday. The bonus of 'goodies' from Jason's garden were a real treat. Thankyou! The coast just south of La Rochelle is lovely with clean beaches, warm sea, easy parking... well worth a visit on a hot day. Other places worth a visit are 'Green Venice', Chef-Boutonne, Dampiere - both have lovely chateaux. Saintes - Roman town with spectacular amphitheatre, sight seeing walk is well worth doing, Jarnac & Cognac are a entertaining day out - nominate a driver before you go! We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay & don't really want to return to the 'rat race' - Thanks for a cracking time." (31/08/02) |
"We have enjoyed a marvellous, relaxing week in what has to be the "VERY BEST" property that we have ever stayed in either France or the U.K. As others have said, the home and grounds are fascinating and the welcome very warm and friendly. We hope to be able to come back again sometime in the future. Weather has been very good, the children have spent much time in the pool allowing Mum & Dad the pleasure of a "siesta" after lunch. We move on for a second week slightly further South hoping that the good weather continues and that our next house is just as good. Very many thanks to Jason, Marie-Laure and family a tremendous week!" (10/08/02)
| Helen, Ian, Philip & Rachael | Emma, Adrian, Jake, Alex & Cora -Mid-Glamorgan, South Wales (GB) | |
| "What a fabulous place! This is by far the BEST place we have stayed in, having had numerous places in France. After a long drive, we were welcomed by the cleanliness and warm welcome from Jason & Marie-Laure. The grounds are idyllic and the features in the mill are fascinating. Ventured to La Rochelle one afternoon-Well worth a visit and enjoyed a good meal and street entertainment after dark. Moving on to another house further East for our second week. We cannot hope to find such HIGH standards as Jason & Marie-Laure have provided at Le Moulin de La Combe. Many thanks for such attention to detail." (03/08/02) | "What a wonderful place! Excellent accommodation with a friendly + very helpful couple. Jason & Marie-Laure plus kids. We have been very lucky with the weather, so the first few days have been spent relaxing at Moulin de la Combe using all the excellent facilities eg: badminton, plunge pool, boules, table tennis ect.........Jason has thought of everything, even Hong Kong Phooey for tired kids at the end of the day!!!! Recommend the markets at Lezay (Tues) + Melle (Fri). Very helpful at Melle Tourist Information for local events. Cognac + Ile De Ré a must especially St Martin de Ré - Lovely marina ,restaurants - good for cycling. Lazy days can be had at "Venice Vert". Many thanks to Jason & Marie-Laure and if you ever want to swap houses you've got our address." (20/07/02) | |

"Had an excellent time at the Moulin de la Combe. Jason & Marie-Laure have been excellent hosts. There is so much I want to say but don't know where to start... I'll just sum it up by saying "we'll be back!" Many thanks to Jason & Marie-Laure." (06/07/02) |
"There is an old mill, by the stream, At Moulin de la Combe, Where you can sit down and dream, And laze in the sultry sun, And so in all sincerity, Midday tears that gently burn, And promise we'll return." (21/06/02) |

Thanks once again & see you in September." (20/05/02) | "WHAT A FIND! Only here for 3 nights, extremely well looked after and would recommend it without reservation to anyone visiting this area." (12/05/02)
| Tony & Jenny (GB) | Janet & Raymond - London (GB) | |
| "How could a complete stranger offer to collect you in Poitiers because your hire car didn't turn up! Jason did... this wouldn't happen in the U.K. We have been treated like ROYALTY, the meals have been fantastic, the scenery magnificent. Time to reflect with a stroll in the grounds. A truly magnificent stay! I will strongly recommend to all our friends and relatives." (8/05/02) | "Frankly I can't wait to get my husband home, he's going to build me a pond, renovate the house and he's even thinking of diverting the "Thames" to run through our back garden and turn it into a "Water-Mill". Thank goodness we came here! I wish we could stay longer so that I could learn how to do so many things with style and perfection. Everything perfect about our stay with one exception... the lime green painted objects dotted around the garden. We're sure it will fade in time and before our next visit." (4/05/02) | |
| Mike, Joyce, Beryl, Amanda & John - Devon (GB) | Debbie, Nigel & family - Wiltshire (GB) | |
| "Lovely setting + lovely accommodation. Hosts are very friendly, weather very good and the local scenery is stunning! Saw the Ducks & Fish but the only Coypu we saw were at the local Zoo!! Walnut shells and leaves make great "poo stick" type boats on the top stream. Very enjoyable... ps who left the water on in the kitchen ???" (30/03/02) | "All had a lovely time. Setting & accommodation beautiful, thankyou for your kind hospitality." (06/04/02) | |

| "Spent a glorious hot fortnight enjoying the Gite, the garden and surrounding area. The Gite was more than we hoped for and outdoes the Web-site. Jason & Marie-laure are wonderful hosts -Jason is a mine of information. Many thanks go to them & children for making our holiday so good. Jason's transformation of the Mill is spectacular" (21/07/01) | "We have had the most wonderful, enjoyable holiday. The Moulin is charming, comfortable and exceptionally well equipped - we have wanted for nothing. We have particularly enjoyed Cognac, the "Venice Verte", "Puy de Fou", the lovely town of La Rochelle - great shopping, good seafood, Aquarium & fab yachts for us to dream about. Throughout our visit to Poitou Charentes every one has been particularly helpful and friendly - from the local shopkeepers to m.Jollet the local sculptor who shared some wine with us and presented us with some freshly picked lavender & bottle of his home made Pineau on our departure - Great sculptures too! And finally many many thanks to Jason who has been a mine of information, from places to visit, to wines to buy and kind translations when necessary . We both took full advantage of his fantastic cooking skills-which surpassed the local restaurants by far. We spent many enjoyable evenings sharing the odd bottle of wine or three chatting about the mill, French life and generally putting the world in order with Jason & Marie-Laure. Particular thanks to Marie-laure for welcoming us into her home for a great supper. Ultimately a great place to stay, loads to do and good hosts - What more ? Wendy, Nigel & Nicole" (22/06/01) | |

| "We've been mainly cycling and that way have seen the richness of this region in all its glories, the climate, the light, the skies, the white villages, elegant creamy towns, the canals and rivers in the "Venice Verte and this peaceful productive countryside. Along with others who've gone before us here, we have been impressed with the very thoughtful way the Gite has been provided with everything you need including hair-dryer, water carafes, soft towels, C.D player to name but a few random things ! Thanks to Jason & Marie-Laure for being so friendly also about what makes people feel looked after and comfortable. We're going home feeling some layers have peeled off. Barbara." (14/06/01) | "The House is wonderful, the gardens beautiful, the sitting outside delightful & the weather glorious. Jason & Mother Nature have done well. All in all a wonderful stay, well hosted & very well situated. Thankyou to Jason & Marie-laure. From searching the Internet & landing here, I don't believe my luck. It's just what the Doctor ordered and is definitely "Ahh, This is the life!!!" Thanks to Jason & Marie-Laure for a Fantastic stay + welcoming us into such a homely environment. Katie. Good luck for the future" (26/05/01) | |

(16/04/00) | "Brought the rain with us but this didn't deter. Our stay at le Moulin de la Combe was lovely, very relaxing, peaceful, refreshing. The dinner was super, in fact divine ! Breakfast was a luxury and boy did we sleep in those comfy beds...fantastic. Overall a great place to stay, lovely to meet Jason & his family, we are looking forward to being neighbours." (26/03/00) | |

The site is beautiful, and having the freedom to walk around, feed the ducks (21 today), see hundreds of fish & even spot the coypu has been a pleasure. The rooms are very well appointed & comfortable." (14/08/99) | "Bravo pour avoir su faire revivre ce patrimoine qui fera le bonheur de tous les visiteurs." (22/08/99)

Tout y est charmant, y compris la pluie sur le velux...c'est une douce & agréable berceuse ! Ces gars-là sont vraiment très bien. A bientôt, nous reviendrons !" (25/12/99) | "We've only been at the Moulin de la Combe for a couple of days & nights, and have been made to feel extremely welcome. The food & the company have been very good, compliments to the chef. A lot of hard work has been completed to make the mill what it is today. Well appointed rooms & very pleasent with the streams & grounds. We would not hesitate to recommend le Moulin de la Combe to anyone wishing to visit this charming area of France." (31/10/99)
